VoteWarMap Privacy Policy

VoteWarMap ("the Service") establishes and discloses this Privacy Policy to protect personal information and to handle related concerns promptly and properly under applicable privacy laws.

Article 1. Purpose of Processing Personal Data

The Service processes personal data for the following purposes. If the purposes change, the Service will take the measures required by applicable law.

  • Member identification and login session management (via Google OAuth)
  • Providing voting and game services and storing results
  • Regional statistics, service quality improvement, security, and abuse prevention
  • Advertising delivery and performance measurement (when AdSense is enabled)

Article 2. Categories of Personal Data Processed

The Service processes the following categories of information.

  • Account signup and use: email address, login provider, nickname, birth year, and gender
  • Profile and service data: school information, province/district codes, privacy visibility settings, and voting/game records
  • For support payments: order ID, payment method, currency, payment status, and timestamps for approval, cancellation, or refund
  • Guest use: guest session ID (stored in the browser session) and temporary vote records
  • Automatically collected data: access logs, cookie/browser storage identifiers, and device/browser information

Article 3. Processing of Location Information

  • Users in Korea currently use school-based location only. GPS support is planned for a later release.
  • GPS support for non-KR users is planned to roll out gradually.
  • Precise coordinates (latitude/longitude) are used only for reverse geocoding and are not stored in the Service database.
  • Only administrative region data such as province and district codes is stored in the Service database.
  • Coordinates may be sent to Kakao or Nominatim during reverse geocoding.

Article 4. Retention Period for Personal Data

  • Member personal data: retained until account deletion or until the processing purpose is fulfilled, unless a longer retention period is required by law
  • Guest sessions: cleaned up after 24 hours from the last recorded activity
  • Temporary guest votes: automatically deleted when the session is removed or converted into member data when merged after login

Article 5. Third-party Processors and Overseas Transfers

The Service may use the following providers to operate the Service.

  • Supabase, Inc.: database and authentication infrastructure (data may be stored outside your country)
  • Polar Software, Inc.: payment approval, subscription billing, and settlement processing
  • Google LLC: AdSense advertising delivery and advertising cookie processing (when enabled)
  • Vercel Inc.: analytics and operational infrastructure

Article 6. Cookies and Advertising Policy

The Service may use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on a user s visits to this Service or other websites.

Article 7. Data Subject Rights and How to Exercise Them

Users may exercise their rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of their personal data.

  • Account deletion can be requested immediately in MY > Edit (/my/edit).
  • When an account is deleted, the account/profile and game score records are removed together.
  • Existing vote records may remain as anonymized statistical data with the personal identifier link (user_id) removed.
  • Other rights-related requests may be submitted to the privacy contact email below.

Article 8. Destruction Procedures and Methods

Personal data is destroyed without delay once the processing purpose has been achieved. Electronic files are deleted using methods that make recovery difficult, and printed materials are destroyed by shredding, incineration, or similar methods.
